Finding buyers in public Reddit, X and LinkedIn posts, without scraping profiles

October 26, 2026 · 6 min read

Some of the warmest leads never fill in a form. They post "what do you use for X?" or "alternatives to Y?" in a subreddit, on X or on LinkedIn. Those posts are public and indexed by search engines, which means you can find them without logging in, scraping profiles or collecting personal data.

Search for the question, not the keyword

  • "best [category] for [audience]" and "recommend a [category]"
  • "alternative to [competitor]" and "[competitor] vs"
  • "how do I [job your product does]"

Separate buyers from content

Guides, launch announcements and "top 10" lists mention your category but are not people asking for help. Threadly classifies each post by intent (asking for a recommendation, looking for an alternative, asking for help, or just discussing) and ranks buyers first.

Reply like a person

  • Answer the question first, even if the answer is not you.
  • Disclose that you work at the company you mention.
  • Respect each community's rules on self-promotion.
Threadly reads only public, search-indexed posts and records where each one came from. It does not collect profiles or private content.
